Weight on Bar Calculator kg

See a loaded bar and need the kg total? Tap the plates on one side and get the full barbell weight in seconds. Works with 20 kg & 15 kg bars.

Direct Answer

To count weight on a kg bar, add the plates on one side, double them, and add the bar weight.

Total kg = bar kg + 2 x plates on one side

20 kg per side

60 kg total

20 kg bar

20 + 10 per side

80 kg total

20 kg bar

20 + 20 per side

100 kg total

20 kg bar

Count one sleeve only

For a normal symmetric bar, enter the plates from one sleeve. The calculator doubles that sleeve and adds the bar.

Metric bar assumptions

Most kg gyms use 20 kg bars and 15 kg bars. If your bar is different, change the bar weight before trusting the result.

Good for shared racks

This is useful when someone leaves a bar loaded and you need the total before deciding your next warmup or working set.

Frequently asked questions

Does the bar count in the total?

Yes. Barbell totals include the bar. If you ignore the bar, every plate calculation will be off by 45 lb, 20 kg, or whatever your actual bar weighs.

What is 20 kg on each side?

On a 20 kg bar, one 20 kg plate on each side is 60 kg total.
